College Students-We Need You!!!

Hello and Happy New Year's Eve Blog Lovers!!!

I just wanted to share a really short survey with you guys. A company I am affiliated with called University Chic is looking for some input from female college students, from all over the world. We would like you to click on the link below, and fill out the 2 minute survey. After you are done, please post a comment below, with your first name or nick name so that I can send a list in to the company. Don't forget that last part, because you would be helping me win a $25 gift card to Victoria's Secret Pink.

Thanks!

Just in case you thought that shaved head was your idea....

Meet "Queen Kelis", the originator. I know, I know get over it. But the more and more I see those wanna be fashion icons(I will not say her name). I get sad because nobody ever mentions that well, Kelis was doing it 5 years ago.

Somtimes I love her, Sometimes I love her not...

O, good old New York. Home of Lady Liberty and the fashion capital of the world. I want you so bad I can taste you, and I am in so much anticipation of our spring tryst together I can hardly focus on finals......but life keeps getting in the way of our love.

-Yes, I wrote a love poem to New York. Why? Because, it seems to me that fate may not want me to make it there this January. First I and my academic record had to go under review(my advisor told me not to worry about this.) But after that minor hold up, now I've just found out my finances are lacking. I have realized that when I get to New York City, I will be beyond broke. Which is where you loyal readers come in, I am passing the collection plate to you guys. I have posted a donation button above this post, please donate any amount you can afford. I will greatly appreciate, and the favor will be returned if need be.

Where did all the black men go?!?

In recent news, the public has been very mad at golf great Tiger Woods. Why you ask? Well there's two reason's.

1. He has allegedly cheated on his wife with at least 10 women.
2. His wife, and all of his mistresses are not black.

***I have personally refrained from the conversation of inter-racial dating because it is very controversial, and I for one have never had anything against a man or woman dating outside their race. However, the black female population are angry because all of the good men are being taken by other races. But, I've always thought of it this way, both of my grandparents are bi racial and if it wasn't for that I wouldn't be the same person I am today.***

I HAVE NEVER SWAYED ON MY BELIEF, THAT PEOPLE SHOULD LOVE WHO THEY WANT TO LOVE NO MATTER THE RACE. BUT TODAY I ACTUALLY GOT ANGRY WHEN I REALIZED HOW MANY SUCCESSFUL BLACK MEN HAVE GIVEN UP ON BLACK WOMEN. IT LEAVES ME TO THINK, WILL I HAVE TO GIVE UP ON BLACK MEN AS WELL?!

-----check out the link below to find out what made me so angry, and tell me how this made you feel?

Don't you just love the military look!!?

(Image taken from InStyle.com)
InStyle has just confirmed what us fashion mavens already knew, military style is so not just for combat! This is great news considering that the women in my family have a odd obsession for olive green, and now we have a fashionable reason to wear it. However this is not a new trend ladies and gents, so before you go out and splurge on a military jacket or anything in the ballpark please rummage through your parents closet. I've already done so and added a army fatigue peaseant skirt to my wardrobe. Now what will I spend money on are the beautiful wedged booties above, if only the bank would allow...maybe i'll be blessed. STay tuned to find out!!

Fashion is Life Updates

The key to planning anything, is promotion!!!!!! In our fashion's show case, we raid people with social networking invites, use word of mouth, and pass out flyers. Speaking of flyers......check out these beauties above.

So I think I may be a little obsessed with this woman. I just love her edge! And I want to prove to everyone, that unlike people think...Rihanna did not come up with the new style she is rocking. If you look at the pic above, you see a much better version of Ri Ri's do. Now...forgive me for coming off as a hater, because I do value Rihanna as a style icon. But please people give credit, where credit is due.

Behind the Scenes of Fashion Is Life

(Flyer from last year's show)
This fall I am apart of the planning committee of The 2nd Annual Fashion Is Life. The show will be at Kent State on October 1st, and I have to admit I can't wait til October 2nd. I mean I love fashion shows but I have come to realize this: planning a fashion show is a whole other ball park than just sitting in the audience. Once school starts we will be caught in a whirlwind of model calls, rehearsals, and fittings. I know this sounds like a lot but it's actually a fun and educational experience. That's why I'm starting a countdown to the show. Up until October 1st, I will be posting everything that goes on behind the scenes of the show, from the planning process to actual pictures from backstage. I want to inspire you readers to go out and get involved in fashion, as well as give you a chance to know the great people that are helping me make this show a success. There will be more to come, so stay tuned!!

Friend Spot-Shenequa Lee

What can I say about this girl. We met At Kupita, a multicultural freshmen orientation. I remember her randomly coming up and starting a conversation with me and thinking this girl is so friendly. It took our actual friendship a little while to build and although we don't see each other all the time. I know she's always there to tag along to the random talent shows and for me to complain to about school and vice-versa. I guess you can say we are close friends from afar. Anyways, here's her friend spot. Stay tuned for more.

1.Name: Shenequa Lee

2.Occupation/Career Goal: Become a elementary school teacher.

3.Favorite Color: Purple

4.Do you consider yourself fashion savvy? I did when I was in high school but now I'm too broke since I been in college.

5.Style Icon: Yes Rihanna (sometimes) and Ciara, I love the way they dress.

6.Favorite Clothing Line or Designer: Right now its Ed hardy and Dereon.

7.Style/Wardrobe Must Have: Jeans!! I Love Jeans and heels !!!

8.Never Leave Home Without It: Cell phone and Ipod

9.Words to Live By: "Winners never quit and quitters never win "

Well that's a peek into the mind of Shenequa Lee, thanks for joining me.

Fashion Show- 2 episode finale

Ok so I am a little late with this post, but things have been a little hectic. Anyways, as you all know the first season of the fashion show has finally come to an end. Now it's time for the recap. The first part of the finale brought the four finalists back together so that they could put final touches on their line, and have model fittings. Then came the actual fashion show; with my boo Reco going away from his normal corset top dresses and taking risks with a full feathered dress. Then there was Anna who had a collection of beautiful bright prints and John Paul with his normal weirdness. And lastly Dainella who rocked the stage with the most current styles, bringing together rocker chic with Balmain inspired shoulder pads; honestly I thought she did the best. To end this episode they held an elimination and booted Reco, saying he needed more training. I was sad but I do agree, Reco disappointed me in the final show. In the next and final episode they droned on with a reunion, then finally crowned Anna as the overall winner:( and Dainella as the judges favorite. Dumb America, how did you pick Anna!!! Well enough ranting, I'm off to find another show to obsess over, stay tuned.
